It is a fact that when a business makes a steady and consistent cash flow and growth, the buyer is usually more attracted in paying a lot of money for the cash flow stream which is less risky here. This is unlikely for a similar business that has unstable and unsteady cash-flow which is riskier and cannot reoccur in the future period.
The market approach usually will require the individual owning the business to do research on various other businesses in the market, compared the businesses, prepare a comparative data from the research, so that he or she is able to know the value of the business and how it is doing in the market. Things including the leverage, assets, liquidity, turnover, revenue, growth, and many more are used to gauge the business in order to determine the value of the business and its place in the market.
